Hartsville, S.C. – Coker and Bloomsburg completed their three game baseball series on Thursday afternoon, with Huskies coming from behind to defeat the Cobras, 21-11. The loss drops Coker to 10-16 overall, while Bloomsburg improves to 3-9 on the year.

The Huskies took advantage of a couple of early Cobras miscues to take a 2-0 lead in the first. Coker evened the score with a pair of runs in the second, off an RBI double from Trey Lynch (Florence, SC) and an RBI single from Will Poole (Pelion, SC). In the third, the Cobras tacked on four more runs, with Poole driving in two of the four.

Bloomsburg cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth, as the Huskies were able to steal a run with a first and third play, which allowed Carlos Medina to score. Both teams traded runs in the sixth, giving the Cobras a 7-4 lead through six.

In the top of the seventh the Huskies bats came to life, as they scored 11 runs on nine hits, five of which were extra base hits, and an error to take a 15-7 lead. Coker managed two runs in the bottom eighth, but Bloomsburg nailed the coffin shut, scoring six more runs in the top of the ninth, for a 21-9 lead. Coker did score two runs in the bottom half of the ninth for a 21-11 Huskies win.

Justin Collier (Laurens, SC) (1-1) took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in four innings of work.

Paul Culbertson earned the win allowing eight runs on 15 hits, while striking out five in eight innings of work.

Leading the Cobras at the plate was Poole, going 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs, while Kyle Walker (Centralia, IL) was 3-for-6 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Ricky Deleandro (Mentor, OH) was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored and Scott Amann (New Athens, IL) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.

For Bloomsburg, Medina was 4-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored, while Kevin Ward was 4-for-6 with two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. Matt Allen was 2-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Preston Hitchcock was 3-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI and four runs scored.

Coker returns to the field on Saturday, as they travel to Gaffney, SC, to face Limestone College in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader starting at noon.
