Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Baseball Coach Dave Schmotzer announced the signing of centerfielder Kyle Walker to a baseball scholarship. Walker, a native of Centralia, Illinois, will be joining the Cobra Baseball Team from Southwestern Illinois College.

 

While at Southwestern Illinois Walker was named to the All-Defense Team during his sophomore season, while batting .343 for the season. Kyle is a graduate of Centralia High School where he was a three-time baseball and football letterman, as well as a two-time basketball letterman. His high school awards include being a two-time First Team All-Conference and Metro East All-Star Team selection in baseball, while being named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Southern Illinois in football during his senior year.

 

Walker plans to majoring education while at Coker and when asked about attending Coker College he said, “I am really excited about getting the opportunity to continue my education and my baseball career in South Carolina. I think Coker is going to be a great fit for me.”

 

The Cobra Baseball Team finished the 2007 season with a record of 20-31 overall, finishing in seventh place in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference.
