Wilson, NC- With a pair of losses, the Coker Baseball team was officially eliminated from the 2007 CVAC Baseball Tournament. Coker lost to the Falcons of Pfeiffer University 9-1 to start the day and then lost 7-5 to Anderson University in the loser’s bracket, eliminating them from the tournament and ending their 2007 season. For the year the Cobras finished up 19-31 overall, and 9-14 in the CVAC.

 

In their first game of the day, Matt Conyers took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits in six innings of work.

 

The Cobra offense was not clicking in the game, but Brian Nally, Ben Davidson, Seth Weinberg and Brantley Bell each managed to get a hit for the Cobras.

 

In the second game, Coker could not hold a 5-3 lead as they entered the eighth inning and were defeated 7-5.

 

Kyle Strickland took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in an inning of work.

 

At the plate, Ben Davidson led the way, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Steven Evans was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Ty Medlin was 2-for-4 and Eric Losten was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

 

The Cobras will now enter the off season and prepare to replace 12 seniors and make a run at the conference championship next season.
