Wilson, NC- In the top of the tenth inning with the score tied 5-5 in their first game of the CVAC Baseball Tournament, the Coker baseball team found themselves with runners on first and third and no one out. Things were looking great until the runner on first base, Brian Nally, got faked out and nearly picked off, but with some quick thinking he took off for second base and make the Belmont Abbey first baseman throw to second to try and get him out. This gave the runner at third, Eric Losten, enough time to make a break for the plate and steal home to give the Cobras a 6-5 lead.

Two batters later with two outs, Ben Davidson gave Coker a little cushion, as he blasted a solo home run over the fence at Fleming Stadium, for a 7-5 lead. Then it was just up to Kyle Strickland (3) to stop the Crusaders attack and that is exactly what he did, earning his third save of the season.

With the win the Cobras advance to the second round of the CVAC Tournament where they will face the winner of the Pfeiffer/Barton game at 10:00 a.m. at Fleming Stadium.

Chris Thomas (1-1) earned the win for the Cobras on the mound.

Davidson was the leading hitter, going 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, while Ryan Schaeffer was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Nally was 2-for-2 with a run scored.
