Hartsville, SC- Coker defeated the #3 ranked Georgia College and State Bobcats 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon in collegiate baseball. On the way to the victory senior short stop Brian Nally broke the all time hits record at Coker, knocking a base hit into right field, giving him 197 total career hits. With the win Coker is now 13-24 overall, while Georgia College drops to 28-7 overall.

 

Jesse Hatchell (3-2) earned the win, going 4 1/3 innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits, with three strike outs.

 

Michael Newman (5-1) took the loss, throwing an inning in relief allowing two runs on three hits.

 

Coker’s leading hitter was Ryan Schaeffer, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Brian Johanson was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Julio Gomez was 1-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored. Nally finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored.

 

For the Bobcats, Brett DiFelice was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Justin Mills and Daniel Heflin were each 1-for-4 with a double.

 

Coker returns to the field on Saturday, when they travel to face CVAC foe St. Andrews at noon.
