Hartsville, SC- The Coker Baseball Team snapped their eight game losing streak, as they defeated Voorhees College 16-1 in collegiate baseball. With the win Coker improves to 15-28-1 on the season.

 

The Cobras got started early, scoring five runs in the first and four in the second inning. Coker added three more runs in the third inning, before Voorhees plated their first run in fourth, giving the Cobras a 12-1 lead.

 

Coker added four more runs in the fifth to secure a 16-1 victory.

 

Jesse Hatchell (2-3) earned the win going six innings, allowing just one run on two hits, with six strike outs.

 

Voorhees’ Joshua Slaughter took the loss going an inning and two-thirds, allowing eight runs on four hits.

 

For Coker, Brian Nally was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Seth Weinberg was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Ben Davidson finished 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.

 

Voorhees was lead by Michael Curry, who was 2-for-3 with an RBI, collecting all of Voorhees’ hits.

 

Coker now prepares for their weekend series versus Anderson University starting Friday, at noon.
