Hartsville, SC- Coker dropped their eighth game in a row as they fell to the Barton Bulldogs 14-4 in collegiate baseball on Monday afternoon. With the loss Coker falls to 14-28-1 overall and 2-19 in the CVAC, while Barton improves to 27-19 overall and 16-5 in the CVAC, good enough for first in the CVAC.

 

Barton got the scoring started early with three runs in the second, but was held scoreless until the fifth when they added five more runs. Coker finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs off two Bulldog errors.

 

The Bulldogs secured their victory with a run in the sixth and four more runs in the seventh, along with a run in the eighth. Coker would close the gap some as they scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

 

Coker’s Steven Dill (2-5) took the loss throwing five innings, allowing eight runs on 11 hits, while striking out six.

 

Kelly Stracke (7-3) earned the win going seven innings for the Bulldogs, allowing just two runs on four hits.

 

For Coker, Seth Weinberg was 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Brian Nally was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Michael Shuford was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Leading the Bulldogs at the plate was Brock Godwin finished 3-for-6 with double, a triple and RBIs. Kevin Brosseau was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and Eric McInerny was 4-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored.

 

The Cobras next game will be on Tuesday, as they host Voorhees College at 3:00 p.m.
