HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker rebounded from Saturday’s poor performance to earn a 6-2 victory over Belmont Abbey on Sunday in collegiate baseball.  The Cobras now stand at 26-19 overall and 14-10 in the CVAC, while BAC drops to 28-27, 9-15 in the conference.  Coker finished third in the final conference standings after today’s win.

Seth Weinberg made his second straight solid pitching outing, going the complete game with five hits and two earned runs allowed.  Jason Cline took the loss for BAC, pitching eight innings with 10 hits and five earned runs allowed.

Coker gave Weinberg the lead in the second inning on a two-out triple by Carlton Deese.  CC added one in the third and three in the eighth when Cline ran into some control problems.  The Crusaders scored their second run in the ninth inning when Ian Gibson smacked his second homerun of the series but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.

Deese went 2-3 with three RBI for Coker while his brother Conrad Deese garnered a hit and a run scored in his last home game as a Cobra.  Classmate Ben Kershner was also recognized on Senior Day and scored twice on the afternoon.

Patrick Atwell had two hits for the Abbey and Alex Udwari finished the series with 11 hits in 14 at bats, including a streak of 11 consecutive hits.

Coker wraps up the regular season this Tuesday at USC Upstate.
