RALEIGH, NC – Coker muscled its way past St. Augustine’s College Tuesday afternoon with an 11-8 come-from-behind victory in collegiate baseball.  The Cobras rallied from four runs down and a two-run homer in the ninth sealed the win.

Coker scored one run in each of the first three innings, including a solo shot by sophomore Ben Davidson in the second inning.  The Falcons answered with four runs in the fourth and fifth innings to lead 8-4 and put the pressure on CC.

In the sixth inning a triple by Eric Losten drove in a pair of runs and Losten came home on a RBI single by Conrad Deese.  That still left Coker down by a run, however, and the score remained 8-7 until the top of the eighth inning.

Losten scored on a double by Brian Nally and TJ Dawson pushed Nally across with a two-out single for a 9-8 CC lead.  Nic Fletcher capped the rally in the Cobras last at-bat with a two-run blast.

Nally earned the victory for Coker, moving from shortstop to the pitcher’s mound in the sixth inning.  He pitched four innings with four hits, one walk and zero runs allowed while striking out four batters.

Losten went 3-4 with four runs scored and two RBI, and Dawson picked up two hits and drove in a pair.  Fletcher finished 2-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Coker’s matchup against Utica College, scheduled for March 23, has been cancelled due to rain.
