WILSON, NC—Coker exacted a bit of revenge after a pair of disappointing losses yesterday with a convincing 17-7 victory at Barton, Sunday afternoon in collegiate baseball.  CC improves to 12-14 overall and 6-6 in the CVAC.

Coker forged a 6-2 lead over the first three innings and led 7-3 after six.  In the eighth inning the Cobras bombed Barton with eight runs on six hits and two errors to lead 15-3.  CC added two more in the ninth and the Bulldogs capped the scoring with four runs in the last frame. 

Coker out-hit Barton 22-18 and ran through five BC pitchers.  Freshman Nick Green was two outs away from a complete game but ran into some trouble in the ninth.  Brian Nally came on to get the final two outs, both on strikeouts.

It was a banner day for the Cobra offense, led by seniors Ben Kershner and Conrad Deese.  Kershner went 3-6 with two homers, five RBI and three runs scored.  Deese batted in the cleanup spot behind Kershner and went 6-6 with one RBI and three runs scored. 

Seth Weinberg had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored and Dustin Dockter also had three hits while driving in four and scoring once.

Coker’s next game will be at Voorhees on Wednesday, March 16, at 1:00 PM.
