ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson College scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning of the second game and went on to post a 10-6 victory over Coker and a split of a CVAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium.

In the first game, Conrad Deese doubled and scored on a single by Seth Weinberg in the top of the ninth inning to give Coker a 9-8 victory over Anderson .

Leading 5-4 entering the bottom of the fourth in the second game, the Trojans put five runs on the board for a 10-4 lead. With one out, Jacob Reid and Donavon Schmidt both singled and Clint Neville got hit by a pitch to load the bases. After F.A. Vildosola reached on an error to score Reid, Jonathan Pitts and Kyle Lewis both provided two-run singles.

Anderson starter Nat McCarty pitched six innings in the second game. He struck out six and walked three.

In the first game, the Cobras scored four runs in the first. The big hit in the inning was a two-run triple by Justin Sims.

Anderson scored two runs in the home half of the first on RBI singles by Schmidt and Neville.

Trailing 8-4, the Trojans tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. After Schmidt hit a solo homer, Vildosola doubled with one out and Pitts reached on an error. Cody Nye then doubled to score two runs, and Lewis provided a run-scoring single.

Anderson had two on with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but could not score.

Eric Losten was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Cobras in the first game. Five Anderson players had two hits apiece.

Anderson is now 8-12 overall and 2-2 in the CVAC, while Coker stands at 9-11, 4-4.

The two teams will complete the three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
