Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. Wrestling

• This week’s matches:
  • Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – UNC Pembroke

• Last week’s matches:
  • Belmont Abbey (W) – 23-12

• Last week, the Coker wrestling team picked up its 10^th match victory of the season with a 23-12 win over Belmont Abbey. This week the regionally ranked No. 3 Cobras will travel to UNC Pembroke to take on the regionally ranked No. 2 Braves.

Women’s Basketball

• This week’s games:
  • Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry
  • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Tusculum

• Last week’s games:
  • Catawba (L) – 77-61
  • Carson-Newman (W) – 68-61

• The Coker women went 1-1 last week with an impressive 68-61 victory over Carson-Newman. This week the Cobras will hit the road for a pair of SAC contests at Newberry and at Tusculum.

Men’s Basketball

• This week’s games:
  • Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry
  • Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) – Tusculum

• Last week’s games:
  • Catawba (L) – 71-66
  • Carson-Newman (W) – 75-64

• Last week the Cobra men also went 1-1 picking up a huge SAC win over Carson-Newman (75-64). This week they will play on the road at Newberry on Wednesday and at Tusculum on Saturday.  

Men’s Volleyball

• This week’s matches:
  • Friday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – North Greenville

• Last week’s matches:
  • Grand Canyon (L) – 3-0
  • Hope International (L) – 3-0
  • Grand Canyon (L) – 3-0

• The Coker men’s volleyball team will continue its season opening road trip by traveling to North Greenville University on Friday.

Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

• This week’s meets:
  • None

• Last week’s meets:
  • UNC Open

• The Coker men’s and women’s track & field teams opened their inaugural seasons at the UNC Open last week. The women’s team placed in four events, while Brandon Gambrell led the men’s team with a second place finish in the high jump and a fourth place finish in the long jump.
