HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College men’s volleyball announced the signing of its first player in school history. Brett Parkin has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball for the Cobras in their inaugural season.

Parkin, a 6-foot-4 outside hitter out of Lethbridge, Alberta, comes from F.P. Walshe High School. A four-star athlete in volleyball, rugby, lacrosse and basketball, Parkin was league MVP, rookie of the year and was on Team Alberta in volleyball. He was also a captain on the Lethbridge Volleyball Club.

“Brett has the skills to set the tone on the outside for the program,” said head coach Todd Caughlin. “He has the ability to hit a variety of shots with conviction on the outside.  He knows how to use every ball that is set to him. He plays well above the height of the net and has good ball control. Brett has played on the provincial elite teams in Canada, and that experience will be needed to make our program competitive in its first year.”

Brett is the son of Darrin and Lisa Parkin.
