Ingle and McCusker Headline Third Annual FANG Awards

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker athletic department held the third-annual FANG Awards on Wednesday (May 3) evening to honor the athletic achievements of the Cobras during the 2016-17 season. Headlining the night were men's golf player Taylor Ingle and women's lacrosse player Haley McCusker, winners of the C.G. Timberlake Male and Female Athlete of the Year Awards.

Ingle played 18.5 rounds this year for the Navy and Gold, shooting to a 73.4 scoring average. Ingle has finished in the top-30 in every event this year, and has recorded four top-10 finishes and one top-five finish, which came at the Queens University Invitational back in September. Ingle shot a 74 in the final round and a two-day score of 145 to finish in third place individually. He currently owns the fifth-lowest scoring average in Coker's men's golf history. His lowest card on the season was a round of 69 shot at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate back in October. The senior has posted the top win-loss percentage on the squad at 514-108 (.826). Ingle was named to the All-SAC Second Team for his performance.

Taylor is from Winnsboro, S.C., and is the son of Rennie and Rick Ingle.

McCusker had a fantastic season for the Cobras and led the South Atlantic Conference with 79 goals on the season, and ranked third with 87 points. She was named SAC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 26, and tied a Coker single-game record with 10 points in a win over Brevard. She also set the Coker single-season goals record this season and finished with nine games of five or more points. Nationally, the junior currently ranks second in total goals, third in NCAA DII with a 4.16 goals per game average, and eighth with 87 points.
