Cobra Spotlight- Christopher Gbelay Men's Volleyball

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Christopher Gbelay, a member of the men's volleyball team.

Hometown: Abidjan, Ivory Coast 

Year: Sophomore                

Major: Psychology with a minor in business

Why did you choose Coker? I chose Coker because I wanted to explore the U.S. and also join a new volleyball program.

What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? My favorite sports moment, so far, was when my teammates and I played against each other on homecoming.

What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? When I first got to Coker’s campus, a group of girls thought I was Kanye (West). I thought it was pretty funny.

Favorite class: My PE class. It was fun and interesting.

Favorite professor: Jim McLaughlin

Plans after graduation: Becoming a CEO of a company in Las Vegas

Favorite movie: Avatar; Blood Diamond

Favorite food: I love Chinese food

Favorite professional sports team: No team; love volleyball and soccer

Most prized possession: My crown from winning homecoming king in high school
