Cross Country Competes at Coastal Carolina Invitational

CONWAY, S.C.- The Coker men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday (Sept. 9).

The men finished second among Division II teams, and all seven runners placed in the Top 30. Jacob Chebii opened his sophomore campaign by finishing fifth (16:59.29), while Brandon Mullins followed Chebii right in for sixth (17:09.10). Sophomore Razzel Kiplaget opened the 2016 campaign finishing ninth (17:37.21), and Luke Elliot took 15th in 18:45.36. William Mosley (17th, 19:30.92), Jordan Bishop (18th, 19:48.37) and Jacob Maldanado (20th, 21:42.65) rounded out the Cobra men.

Coker's women also competed for the first time this season, also finishing second among Division II competition. Darroneshia Lott started off her 2016 campaign with a third place finish in 21:13.09, while Breanna Sullivan (9th, 23:46.37) and Tiffany Taylor (10th, 26:08.46)  also notched  Top 10 finishes. Angie Flores (11th, 28:49.32) and Karley Weiner (12th, 34:06.26) also made strong showings in their first race of the year.

The Cobras will take to the course again on Saturday Sept. 24 when they travel to Wingate for the Bulldog Stampede. That race is set for a 9:00 a.m. start.
