Bio

2013-14: Bates led the Cobras all year long, with three top-10 finishes on the season.  His best event came at the Catawba Invitational when he finished first (of 30) in the 8K race with a time of 27:05.

2012-13: Bates posted his best time of the year at the Winthrop Invitational this year, where he finished first for the Cobras in the 8k race with a time of 27:51.  Bates also finished third for Coker at the Southeast Regional with a 10k time of 36:50, and slated a 5k time of 17:13 at the Pre-Conference meet. 

2011-12: Bates was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll and to the USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Cross Country Team. His best time of the year was 26:53 at the Conference Carolinas Championship.

High School: Bates comes to Coker from north of the border in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. An exceptional student-athlete at Birchmount Park Collegiate School, Bates is a World Qualifier in the Triathlon for Canada. His personal best times are 27:19 in the 8k, 16:40 in the 5k and 34:35 in the 10k.

Personal: Son of Barbara and Michael Bates...he has one brother Austin.
