Cobras XC Battles at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomores' Dylan Bates and Stephanie Shaw both finished first for the Cobras cross-country teams on Saturday (Sept. 15), during the Winthrop Invitational.

Bates paved the way for the Cobras, finishing the 8k race in a time of 27:51.52.  Also breaking 30 minutes and coming in second for the Cobras was sophomore Josh Peterson, who finished in a time of 28:07.92.  Thad Sulek was third for Coker, with a time of 31:49.89, while sophomore Mikey Mazzola and senior Quinn Wegner finished with times of 36:19.65 and 36:51.30.  Rounding out the race for the Cobras was Cooper Lyon and Joey Molo who finished with times of 36:58.33 and 37.52.95.

Shaw led the Cobras in the 5k race finishing in a time of 22:05.82.  Sophomore Naomi Watson and senior Cristina Vital were side-by-side finishing with times of 23:44.12 and 23:57.95.  Kirsten Sanders and Aneka Dixon finished with times of  26:09.00 and 27:47.63, while Devan Williams completed the final spot for the Cobras finishing with a time of 32:43.66.

The men's team finished 22nd overall, while the women's team finished 29th, respectively.

The Cobras next meet will take place in Charlotte, N.C. as they travel to compete in the UNC Charlotte Invitational on September 29.
