
Coker Cross Country Teams Earn Top 10 Finishes at Furman Invite
The Coker cross country teams posted a pair of top 10 finishes on Saturday at the Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Coker cross country teams competed in the Gene Mullin Furman Cross Country Invitational on Saturday earning a pair of top 10 finishes. The Cobra women finished eighth and the men finished seventh. In the mostly Division I race, both teams finished third out of the Division II schools.
In the women's 5k race, Stephanie Shaw (Aiken, S.C.) led the way with a time of 20:52, followed by Cristina Vital's (Dallas, Texas) time of 23:26. Kirsten Sanders (Union, S.C.) posted a time of 23:50, while Angela Williams (Johnston, S.C.) came in at 24:11. Robyn Richer (Elloree, S.C.) finished the race at 24:17 and Caitlyn Driscoll (Grand Island, N.Y.) and Aliese Gregory (Aiken, S.C.) came in at 24:29 and 25:11 respectively.
Brandon Cain (Graham, N.C.) was the Cobras leading runner in the men's 8k race with a time of 27:10, followed by Dylan Bates (Scarborough, Ontario) at 27:34. Josh Peterson (Boca Raton, Fla.) posted a time of 30:09 and Derek Nix (Toms River, N.J.) came in at 30:27. Thad Sulek (Hilton Head, S.C.), Britain Tomlinson (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Quinn Wenger (Sumter, S.C.) all posted times of 30:49, 31:49 and 33:27 respectively.
The Cobras will run again on October 14 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
