CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coker men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in the top 10 at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Friday afternoon. The Cobra women placed ninth, while the men finished 10th. Queens University of Charlotte came away with the championship in both the men’s and women’s races, with Mount Olive College finishing second in both races as well.

The Cobra men had one of their best races of the season as all five runners came in under 30 minutes in the 8k race. Austin McJunkins (Walhalla, S.C.) led the way finishing at 29:14, followed by Quinn Wegner (Sumter, S.C.) at 29:18. Britain Tomlinson (Rock Hill, S.C.) came in at 29:38 with Thad Sulek (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Joel Bristol (Palm Bay, Fla.) coming in at 29:53 and 29:59 respectively.

In the women’s 5k race it was Kendyl Seawright (Manalapan, N.J.) leading the Cobra women with a time of 20:57, followed by Samantha Fletcher (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) coming in at 21:08. Ashlyn Barnwell (York, S.C.) had a time of 21:18 and Alex Ochoa (Pamplico, S.C.) finished at 22:17. Aliese Gregory (Aiken, S.C.), Ashley Meador (Union, S.C.) and Caitlyn Driscoll (Grand Island, N.Y.) rounded out the field of Coker runners with times of 22:32, 23:43 and 23:49 respectively.

The Cobras will now break for the holidays before returning to the trails and roads once again in the spring for their off-season workouts.
