Columbia, SC- The Coker College Women’s Cross Country Team opened their 2007 season with first place finish at the Gamecock Invitational. The Lady Cobras defeated USC-Aiken by one point in the Division II bracket to win the meet. Coker also had a B-Team, they finished fifth behind Francis Marion and UNC-Pembroke.

Individually the Cobras were led by freshman Kendyl Seawright/Manalapan, NJ, as she finished third overall with a time of 21:13, followed by Shannon Townley/Anniston, AL, in sixth place with a time of 21:42. Next for the Cobras was Monica Taylor/Lexington, SC, with a seventh place finish with a time of 21:44, while Nicole Coke/Summerville, SC, finished in 11th place with a time of 22:18. Dana Daves/York, SC, finished in 13th place at 22:44, while Heidi Rienstra/Ontario, Canada, finished in 15th place at 23:02. Noelle Sharbono/Miami, FL, finished in 20th at 24:15, while Amy Jones/Hurricane, WV, came in at 21st place with a time of 24:23. Rounding out the runners for Coker were Ashley Cupp/North Augusta, SC, in 22nd place at 25:53 and Elizabeth Cox/N. Myrtle Beach, SC, in 26th place at 28:06.

The Lady Cobras next meet is the Pre-Conference Carolinas meet at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, on Saturday, September 8.
