Anderson, SC- The Coker Cross Country Teams competed in the CVAC Cross Country Championships today in Anderson, SC. The Cobra men finished 5th as a team out of 10 teams in the 8K event, while the women placed 11th out of 12 teams in the 5K race.

 

Leading the men was junior David Green/Easley, SC, with a 4th place finish and a time of 27:48; he was followed by fellow junior Nathan Hansen/Montgomery, AL, with a time of 28:32 and a 12th place finish. Tyler Carroll/Birmingham, AL, came in at 29:16, good enough to place 20th, while freshman Adam Green/Easley, SC, finished with a time of 31:39. Rounding out the rest of the Coker team were seniors Jermaine Cooper/Irmo, SC, and Alex Kornfeld/Greenville, SC, with times of 32:00 and 32:22 respectively. Coker senior Blake Means/Irmo, SC, finished at 34:28, followed by sophomore Michael Koshis/Greenville, SC, at 35:33 and Blake’s brother Brit Means at 36:03.

 

The men’s 5th place finish was good enough to qualify them for the NCAA Division II Regional Meet at Wingate University on November 11.

 

David Green and Nathan Hansen were named to CVAC All-Conference Teams. Green made First Team All-Conference, while Hansen was selected for the All-Conference honorable mention team. St. Andrews won the Men’s title and Anderson College won the women’s title, while Lewis Martin of Lees-McRae was named men’s runner of the year and Jennifer Hitt of Anderson was named women’s runner of the year.

 

The next meet for the Coker Men will be the regional meet on November 11, at Wingate University.
