GILMORE EARNS SAC ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM HONORS
Rock Hill, SC - After a stellar rookie campaign, Cayla Gilmore was named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Freshmen team, the SAC announced this morning.
Gilmore, the freshman from Aiken, SC, has been an immediate impact player for the Cobras. In her first season, the right side averaged 2.65 kills per set (236 total) and 3 points per set (268.5 total). She also had solid defensive numbers, logging 53 blocks and 74 digs on the season. This is the first All-SAC athlete that a Cobra volleyball program has had since the 2020-21 season when Emily Everton garnered All-SAC Honorable Mention honors.
Her best game of the season statistically came in a huge 3-1 win over Carson-Newman, where she recorded 14 kills on .444 hitting to upset a top-four team in the conference. She also recorded a few other stellar games including a 19-kill outing against Georgia College, a 16-kill game against Tusculum, and a 15-kill game against Emory & Henry. The statistical leader in many different categories for Coker, they look forward to three more seasons with the heralded young Cobra.
