Hartsville, SC - The Cobras battled the preseason fourth-ranked team in the South Atlantic Conference to the brink, avoiding the sweep and losing in four sets (16-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-25) to the Pioneers of Tusculum.
The highlight of this one was the astonishing second set by Coker. Falling down 0-2, they rattled off five points in a row to take the 5-2 lead before Tusculum took their first timeout. From there, the Cobras never trailed and blazed to a 25-15 set win.
Unfortunately, Coker couldn't pull this one out after tying it at a set apiece as they dropped the remaining two sets. Cayla Gilmore had 16 kills and a .235 kill percentage, leading the team in both of those categories. Other highlights include Maddy Roberts with 26 assists and Meadow Morse with 26 digs.
The Cobras are back in action on Friday when they travel to SAC foe Newberry to square off with the Wolves. First serve for that one is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET.
