Cobras Fight Hard in Day 1 of Blazer Volleyball Fall Tournament

Valdosta, GA – The Cobras Women's Volleyball team took on Young Harris College and Valdosta State in Day 1 action of the Blazer Volleyball Fall Tournament. Unfortunately, the Cobras suffered a 2-3 loss and a 1-3 loss at the hands of the Mountain Lions and the Blazers, respectively.

 

Game 1:

In a volleyball matchup between Young Harris and Coker, Young Harris emerged as the winner in a five-set match. The final score was 3-2, with Young Harris taking the victory. Coker started the match strong, winning the first set with a score of 25-15. They had a hitting percentage of 0.407, while Young Harris struggled with a hitting percentage of 0.086. Young Harris bounced back in the second set, winning with a score of 25-19. They improved their hitting percentage to 0.188, while Coker's hitting percentage dropped to 0.175. Young Harris continued their momentum in the third set, taking a commanding 25-15 victory, but Coker fought back in the fourth set, winning with a score of 25-21. 

The fifth and final set was a close battle, but Young Harris ultimately came out on top with a score of 15-12. Coker struggled with their hitting percentage in this set, coming in at -0.045. This victory brings Young Harris' record to 3-1, while Coker's record drops to 2-3.

 

Game 2:

In a volleyball match between Coker and Valdosta State, Valdosta State emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1. Valdosta State won the first set with a score of 25-21, but Coker fought back to win the second set 26-24. However, Valdosta State regained control and took the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-21, respectively.

Chelsey Blume from Coker had an impressive performance with 13 kills, while Naomi Earl-Reyes contributed 14 kills. Kendal Boland provided significant assistance with 33 assists. Valdosta State displayed a strong attacking game, with a kill percentage of 0.192 compared to Coker's 0.093. Valdosta State also had a superior block game, recording 12 blocks compared to Coker's 2. Ultimately, Valdosta State's powerful offense and solid defense secured their victory over Coker in this exciting volleyball matchup.
