Coker Volleyball Splits Opening Day

Game 1 

Mars Hill, NC- The Coker volleyball team started their season with a victory over King (Tenn.) in a four-set match. The Cobras were on the road at Mars Hill for the Tony Fontanelle Memorial Volleyball Tournament. Coker won the first two sets with scores of 25-18 and 25-12. However, King fought back and won the third set 26-24. Coker was able to close out the match with a 25-23 victory in the fourth set.

Chelsey Blume led the way for Coker with 16 kills, while Breyon Forrest added 9 kills. Ada Kayan had a strong performance as the team's setter, recording 36 assists. Meadow Morse contributed with 30 digs, while Alex Williams had 14 digs.

Overall, The Cobras had a higher hitting percentage (.219) compared to King (.029), which played a significant role in their victory. Coker also had more blocks (16) compared to King (4).

 

 

Game 2 

In a volleyball match between Shorter and Coker, Shorter emerged as the winner with a score of 3-1. The final scores for each set were 16-25, 25-19, 25-21, and 25-22 in favor of Shorter.

Coker had a total of 41 kills out of 147 attempts, with a hitting percentage of .109. They had 7 service aces and 6 blocks. Chelsey Blume was the top scorer for Coker with 14 kills.

Overall, it was a competitive match between the two teams, but Shorter was able to secure the victory.
