Strejcek, Du Bray Earn South Atlantic Conference Honors

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Coker College freshman middle hitter Lana Strejcek (Cornelius, N.C./William Amos Hough High School) was named the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year, and selected to the South Atlantic Conference All-Freshman team, and junior outside hitter Taylor du Bray (Highlands Ranch, Colo/Mountain Vista High School) was selected All-Conference Honorable Mention by the conference on Thursday (Nov. 8).

Strejcek was a dominant presence in the middle for the Cobras all season, recording 248 kills along with 80 blocks. Her best performance of the season came against Queens (Sept. 4), when she notched 15 kills and eight blocks against the Royals.

Strejcek finished the season seventh overall in the conference in hitting percentage (.280), sixth in solo blocks (14), and ninth in total blocks (80).

Du Bray was selected All-Conference Honorable Mention for the second consecutive season. She also set the Coker College single season kills record for the second consecutive season, finishing with a total of 373 kills. She now ranks seventh in Coker history in total kills with 770 kills in her three seasons.

Du Bray was one of the most fearsome outside hitters in the conference all season, finishing second in total kills (373) and and first in kills per set (3.73) while also ranking sixth in service aces (36). She recorded 16 double-doubles on the season, and amassed 15 or more kills on 12 occasions. Her most dominant performance came against UNC Pembroke when she posted 28 kills and 15 digs with a .393 hit percentage.

"I'm incredibly proud of Lana and Taylor", said head women's volleyball coach Julia Rowland. "They are great players and worked hard to earn these individual awards. It is exciting to know they will both return to the court for us next year and should make our team even stronger in the future."
