HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Coker College women's volleyball team won their second consecutive South Atlantic Conference match, beating Catawba 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-18) on Tuesday (Oct. 9).

Four Cobras registered at least 10 kills, including Taylor du Bray (15), Olivia Cerick (12), Lana Strejcek (11), and Olivia Veith (10). It was nearly a career night for Veith, who's 10 kills were the second-most she's accumulated in a match in her Coker career. The senior recorded a .214 hitting percentage, two digs and a block as well.

Coker dropped a tense first set 25-22, but rebounded to dominate the Indians in the second set. Veith got the offense rolling with two early kills, and then an 8-4 run midway through the set helped bury Catawba. Du Bray recorded one of her two service aces on the night to close out the set 25-16. The Cobras hit an eye-popping .536 in the second set.

The third set looked like it would be more of the same, when Coker jumped out to an early 9-2 lead thanks to a pair of kills from Veith. However, the Indians responded with a 19-13 run to cut the Cobras' advantage to 22-21. Du Bray rose to the occasion with a pair of kills to finish off the set 25-23; she ended the night with 15 kills, 15 digs, and five blocks.

Freshman Rami Mullen was the star of the fourth and decisive set, recording nine assists and the match-winning service ace. Mullen finished with her 13th double-double of the season, dishing out 48 assists and recording 10 digs. It's the sixth time this season she's amassed 45 or more assists in a game. She now ranks third in the South Atlantic Conference with 619 total assists.

The Cobras will be back in action on Thursday (Oct. 11) when they travel to Hickory, N.C. to face Lenoir-Rhyne in another South Atlantic Conference battle. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
