
Women's Volleyball Set to Host Lenoir-Rhyne and Brevard in Homecoming Doubleheader
The Coker women's volleyball team will host Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday (Oct. 4) and Brevard on Saturday (Oct. 5) in a 2013 Homecoming doubleheader.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team will conclude its five-match South Atlantic Conference home stand this weekend as they take on the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears and Brevard College Tornados. The Cobras will square off against the Bears at 6 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 4) in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium, followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with the Tornados on Saturday (Oct. 5). Both matches will be broadcast live online at www.cokercobras.com.
Coker has been led offensively by senior Taylor Willis and freshman Amanda Harris. Willis has totaled 91 kills on the year, earning a 3.50 kills per set average. Harris has compiled 102 digs along with 83 kills, good for second in both categories.
Lenoir-Rhyne enters the contest at 6-3 overall with a 3-2 SAC record. The Bears most recent match ended in a 3-2 loss against Newberry College. Lenoir-Rhyne will play Wingate (Oct. 3) before heading to Hartsville to face the Cobras on Friday night. Haley Rhyne, who has 113 kills on the year, leads the offense for the Bears.
Brevard comes to Hartsville with a 3-7 overall record and a 0-6 conference mark. The Tornados are coming off a 3-0 loss to Anderson, and are currently on a six-game losing streak. Senior Erin Rollins leads Brevard with 87 kills. The Tornados will also play Wingate (Oct. 4) before taking on Coker on Saturday.
Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
