Hartsville, S.C. – In a thrilling five set match the Coker Lady Cobras volleyball team picked up their first home victory of the season, defeating the St. Augustine’s College Falcons 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The marked not only the first home victory for the Lady Cobras, but also the first five set win for Coker.

It was not an easy for Coker (3-22, 1-11 Conf. Carolinas) as they started the match with a pair of wins, 25-19 and 25-15, only to fall behind in the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-23. Then in a back and forth fifth set the Lady Cobras pulled out the 15-12 win.

Leading the Lady Cobras was freshman Lisa Ross (Bowling Green, Ky.)with a double-double of 16 kills and 11 digs, while Cynallyhia Indriago (Columbia, S.C.) also had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Abby Frame (Sylvania, Ohio) dished out 27 assists, with Molly Bookhart (Orangeburg, S.C.) handing out 18 assists and picking up 11 digs. Paige Murray (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) had four aces in the match, with April Griggs (Bishopville, S.C.), Ross and Bookhart each getting three.

For the Falcons, Shakira Carter was the kill leader with nine, followed by Courtney Mosley and Stephony Newkirk each with eight kills. Keisha Parris was the dig leader with 16 digs, while Nicolette Campbell had 13 and Roxanne Smith had 33 assists.

Coker returns to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m. when the Lady Cobras host Mount Olive College in a Conference Carolinas match.
