Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker volleyball team took another hard loss on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas volleyball, falling 3-1 to Queens University of Charlotte. The Lady Cobras took the first set of the match in a back and forth battle, 31-29, but was unable to get close to a win in the next three sets, losing 25-10, 25-15 and 25-16.

The Royals of Queens improve to 6-16 on the year and 2-10 in conference play, while Coker falls to 1-20 overall and 0-10 in the conference.

Cynallyhia Indriago (Columbia, S.C.) led the way for the Lady Cobras with 10 kills, while April Griggs (Bishopville, S.C.) and Kristin Teets (Columbia, S.C.) each had six kills for Coker. Leading Coker is digs were Lisa Ross (Bowling Green, Ky.) and Molly Bookhart (Orangeburg, S.C.) with nine digs apiece. Bookhart also had 25 assist on the day.

Leading the Royals was Tanisha Lea (Efland, N.C.) with 12 kills, three solo blocks and five block assists. Erica Mazur(Waxhaw, N.C.) and Allison Williams (Rougemont, N.C.) each had nine kills, with Williams also collecting 14 digs. Sarah Malpass (Gainesville, Fla.) led all defensive players with 17 digs in the match and Avery Griggs (Hendersonville, N.C.) had 41 assists.

Coker returns to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when they travel o St. Andrews for a 7:00 p.m. match, while Queens returns to action on Oct. 20, as face Lander University at 7:00 p.m. on the road.
