Hartsville, SC- In their final regular season home match the Coker senior volleyball players definitely went out with a bang, defeating the Mount Olive College Trojans 3-2 on Tuesday night. The win moves the Cobras to 17-14 overall, and 14-5 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Trojans drop to 15-14 overall, and 11-7 in the conference.

The Cobras went up on the Trojans early winning game one 30-20, but Mount Olive battled right back and won games two and three by scores of 30-28 and 31-29 respectively. Coker evened the wins at two apiece in game four with a 30-26 victory. In game five, Mount Olive looked to have things well in hand, with a 14-10 lead, but after an inspiring talk from Head Coach Chuck Mullen, Coker stormed back scoring five straight for a 15-14 lead. Coker eventually won the final game 18-16.

Leading the Cobras with a 30-30 was Megan Haupt (Summerville, SC). Haupt had 32 kills and 31 digs in the match. Natalie Schembra (Hilton Head, SC) and Margaret Madison (Savannah, GA) each had double-doubles, with Schembra collecting 18 kills and 34 digs, while Madison had 19 kills and 10 solo blocks. Megan Gordon (Chicago, IL) had 35 assists and 16 digs, while Courtney Butrym (Columbia, SC) had 28 assists.

For the Trojans, Sam Mitchell (Boyd, WI) had a double-double, with 32 kills and 15 digs, while Alicia Mote (Miami, FL) had 12 kills and 17 digs. Racey Bartley (Jacksonville, NC) had 12 kills and seven blocks, and Kari Ham (Kinston, NC) had 10 kills and 14 digs. Mallory Peavler (Loda, IL) finished the evening with 23 digs, while Mariangelix Cordero (Orlando, FL) had 54 assists.

Coker returns to the court on Friday, as they travel to Lees-McRae for a 7:00 p.m. match, while Mount Olive also returns to the floor on Friday, as they host Anderson.
