WILSON, NC – Margaret Madison tallied 15 kills and two block assists Thursday night as visiting Coker held off Barton College 30-23, 30-24, 30-23 in Conference Carolinas in women’s volleyball action.
Coker climbed to 14-13 overall and 11-4 in the league with its second win over Barton this season while the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 2-22 and 1-14 in the conference.
Barton led or was tied at the midway point of all three games, but could not make a push to the finish.
The Cobras got 12 kills and 15 digs from Megan Haupt; 21 digs, eight kills and two blocks from Natalie Schembra; 17 digs and five aces from Kelsey Carlson; 21 assists from Megan Gordon; and 19 assists and three aces from Courtney Butrym.
Senior Kyle Petty and junior Liz Strange totaled eight kills apiece to lead the Lady Bulldogs offense while senior Michelle Walker added seven kills and a team-high 10 digs. Freshman setter Macon Harmon tallied 25 assists and freshman Brittany Hunsucker notched four aces.
Barton is home with conference foe Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m. Friday night, then entertains Limestone at 2 p.m. Saturday.
