Hartsville, SC- The Coker women’s volleyball team continued their climb to the top of the Conference Carolina’s standings with a 3-1 victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian College. Coker has also clawed their way back to a .500 record overall at 13-13 and improve to 10-4 in Conference Carolina’s play, while St. Andrews falls to 9-18 and 8-7 in conference play.

The Cobras took control of the match early winning game one comfortably by a score of 30-22. In game two, the Cobras continued to impress and took the game 30-21. However, St. Andrews battled back and won a tight game three 30-28. The Cobras returned to form in game four and took the match by defeating the Knights 30-23.

Leading the way for the Cobras for the second straight match was senior Megan Haupt (Summerville, SC) who posted her second consecutive double-double with 17 kills and 24 digs. Senior Margaret Madison (Savannah, GA) also had good night with 22 kills, 6 blocks, and 3 aces. Natalie Schembra (Hilton Head, SC) had another solid game with 10 kills and 17 digs. Libero Kelsey Carlson (Oswego, IL) had a nice game on the back line with 25 digs, while Megan Gordon (Chicago, IL) had 34 assist and senior setter Courtney Butrym (Columbia, SC) added 18 assist and 3 aces.

For St. Andrews, Lindsay Stansbury (Morgan City, La) had a good night with a double-double of 22 kills and 18 digs while Kelly Williams added 14 kills. Leah Davison (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) was a bright spot in the middle with 5 blocks, and senior libero Erin Haugen (Ft. Mill, SC) had 22 digs.

The Cobras return to the court September 18 as they travel to Wilson, NC, to take on the Barton Bulldogs at 7pm.
