Hartsville, SC- In one of the greatest come from behind victories in Coker Volleyball history, the Cobras battled back from being down two games to none to defeat the Anderson Trojans 3-2 in collegiate volleyball on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Cobras to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the Conference Carolinas, while Anderson drops to 6-8 overall, and 3-2 in the conference.

 

In games one and two, Anderson took it to the Cobras beating them by scores of 30-22 and 30-26, but Coker would not be held down. With a couple of changes by Head Coach Chuck Mullen the Cobras were back in business and ready to take it to the Trojans, and they did, winning the next three straight games 30-17, 30-26 and 15-12.

 

Leading the Coker attack was Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA, with 17 kills and five aces, while Megan Haupt/Summerville, SC, had 16 kills and 18 digs. Natalie Schembra/Hilton Head, SC, gave the Cobras 10 kills and 23 digs, while Kristin Teets/Columbia, SC, and Samantha Cliborne/Goose Creek, SC, each had 13 and 11 kills respectively. Kelsey Carlson/Osweego, IL, finished the match with 28 digs, while Megan Gordon/Chicago, IL, had 45 assists.

 

For the Trojans, Amanda Edwards/Azie, TX, had 19 kills, while Jamie Lancaster/Fountain Inn, SC, added 13 kills. Leanna Willis/Saluda, SC, had a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs, while adding four aces. Lindsey Doggett/Jacksonville, AL, had 50 assists and 13 digs, and Jennifer Moffit/Hendersonville, NC, had 12 digs.

 

Coker returns to the court on Tuesday as they travel to Laurinburg, NC, to face St. Andrews Presbyterian College, while Anderson also plays their next match on Tuesday, as they travel to Belmont Abbey. Both match times are set for 7:00 p.m.
