Hartsville, SC- The Coker Volleyball Team secured their second Conference Carolinas victory of the season on Friday night as they defeated the All-Stars of Converse College 3-0 in collegiate volleyball. The Cobras won by scores of 30-22, 30-15 and 30-28. The win improves Coker to 6-8 overall, and 2-1 in the conference, while Converse falls to 1-10 overall, and 1-2 in the conference.

 

The Cobras won games one and two with ease, while game three proved to be a bit of challenge, as the All-Stars made a late game run, but Coker was able to hold them off and secure the three game sweep.

 

Leading the Cobras was Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA, as she compiled 13 kills and two blocks in the match, while Natalie Schembra/Hilton Head, SC, had nine kills, 2 blocks and eight digs. Kelsey Carlson/Osweego, IL, had 19 digs and five aces in the match, while Courtney Butrym/Columbia, SC, gave the Cobras 32 assists.

 

For the All-Stars, Melanie Wallace/San Antonio, TX, and Katherine Buehler/Mooresville, NC, each had seven kills, with Wallace also adding eight digs in the match. Emily Hall/Mauldin, SC, was the Converse dig leader with 13, while Marisa Coleman/Roebuck, SC, had 10 digs of her own.

 

Coker returns to the court Saturday, as they host Anderson University at Coker’s Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
