Misenheimer, NC- In their first match in the next two days, the Cobras Volleyball Team defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer College in CVAC volleyball 3-1 on Friday night. Coker won the first match 30-13; they then lost the second game 30-26 before winning the next two games 34-32 and 30-20. With the win the Cobras improved to 12-9 overall, and 10-3 in the CVAC.
The Cobras offense was led by Megan Haupt, Margaret Madison and Lauren Larsen. Haupt had 14 kills, 16 digs and four aces in the match, while Madison had 19 kills and two blocks, followed by Larsen with 11 kills and three blocks. Tara Nelson gave Coker 43 assists, 16 digs and four blocks, while Natalie Schembra netted seven kills, 15 digs and two aces. Kelsey Carlson finished out the night with 20 digs.
Coker now prepares to face-off against the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Coker’s Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. The match will be a battle between the second place, Lees-McRae, and third place, Coker, teams in the CVAC.
