Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, Chuck Mullen, announced the signing of five new players for next year. Four of them will be incoming freshmen and a junior college transfer.

Ashley McClam, Allie Bragg, Samantha Cliborne and Trisha Moore will each enter the 2006-2007 season as freshmen, while Kimmie Patton will join the squad as a junior.

McClam, a Lake City, SC, native, is a 5'10" outside/right side hitter. She was an All-State volleyball selection in 2004 and 2005, along with being named to the All-Region Team in 2003, 2004 and 2005. According to Mullen, “Ashley is a versatile player whose ability to play multiple positions will help a lot down the road.  She will get her work on the right side and will work hard at whatever position I ask of her."

Bragg a 6’1” middle hitter from Columbia, SC, will also play softball for the Cobras. Mullen says, “Allie's brings much needed size and strength to the middle hitter position.  With a little work, she could be a very dominant player in this conference.  She was well sought after by many schools for other sports and we are fortunate to have her here at Coker."

Cliborne is a 5'10" outside hitter from Charleston, SC, where she attended Goose Creek High School and was a three-time varsity volleyball captain. She was also a three-time selection to the All-Region Team and was an All-State nominee. "Just like Allie, Samantha brings some needed size and strength to the outside position,” said Coach Mullen, “She has a pretty good all-around game, but her aggressiveness in her attack is what I immediately liked when recruiting her."

Moore, a Rock Hill, SC, native, is a 5’8” outside hitter. Mullen stated, "What I liked right away about Trisha is the positive energy she has.  She is very enthusiastic about Volleyball and she shows it out on the court. Her positive energy has the capability of radiating through her teammates"

Patton joins the Cobras from College of Southern Maryland and is a native of Clinton, MD. Kimmie is a 5'10" middle hitter; she was ranked in the top 10 in the NJCAA in blocking and was the number two blocker in Maryland Junior College. "Kimmie brings college level playing experience to an already experienced team.  She's a very instinctive player at the net and will help tremendously from the blocking aspect and can be an immediate impact player," said Mullen.

Coach Mullen said, "I am very excited to have these five young women join the volleyball program here at Coker. They provide some much needed depth at all the hitting positions.  They will be great ambassadors for the volleyball team and for the school as well.”
