Misenheimer, NC- In their final regular season match of the season the Coker Volleyball Team was defeated by the Falcons of Pfeiffer University on Saturday. The Cobras did not go down without a fight, as they took the match the full fives games, but lost 3-2. To start the match Coker was ahead two games to one, but they could not hold the lead and lost the final two games. The game scores were, 30-27, 27-30, 30-17, 26-30 and 10-15. With the loss Coker finishes the regular season at 16-14 overall, and 15-5 in the CVAC, good enough for third place in the conference.

 

Senior Andrea Manuel and sophomore Margaret Madison each recorded double-doubles in the match with 16 and 20 kills and 25 and 13 digs respectively. Juniors Lauren Larsen and Courtney Barton, along with sophomore Megan Haupt added to the kill totals for the Cobras, Larsen had 10 kills, Barton had 9 kills and Haupt recorded 12 kills. Setter Tara Nelson gave Coker 54 assists, while libero Kelsey Carlson added 25 digs in the match.

 

Next up for the Cobra Volleyball team is the CVAC Volleyball Tournament on November 11 -13. Coker is the 3rd seed in the tournament and will play the winner of either Queen’s University or Pfeiffer University, depending of the out come of their match on Monday.
