BELMONT , NC After a close 3-2 battle in Hartsville earlier this month, the Belmont Abbey women’s volleyball team was looking for a home advantage Saturday against Coker in the rematch. However, the home-court advantage didn’t make much of a difference as the Crusaders (5-4 overall, 3-4 CVAC) lost in a 3-game to the Cobras 30-22, 30-23, 30-21.

Coker got out to an early 9-1 lead in the first game, but The Abbey rallied to get the game close before the Cobras finished the game on a strong run. That was the story in each of the three games as the Crusaders kept it close before Coker would close it out.

Leading The Abbey were Sarah Halligan (Sr./Yuma, AZ) with nine kills and four digs, Monica Halligan (So./Yuma, AZ) with 11 digs, and Mallory Adkins (Sr./Penhook, VA) with 12 assists. Coker's Andrea Manuel and Margaret Madison led the team as each had 11 kills. The Cobras' Tara Nelson had 35 assists to go with 11 digs. Kelsey Carlson also contributed 12 digs.
