Hartsville, SC- The second battle between the Coker and Francis Marion volleyball teams had much of the same feeling as the first one. Just as before, the Francis Marion Patriots came out victorious winning in three straight games 30-19, 30-25 and 30-24. With the victory FMU moves to 12-5 on the year, and with the loss Coker drops to 4-10.

 

Junior Tara Nelson/ Rochester Hills, MI, had 30 assists in the match, while senior Andrea Manuel/Spartanburg, SC, had nine kills and 12 digs for the Cobras.

 

For the Patriots, Kelly Faber/Norfolk, VA, led the way with 18 kills and 11 digs, while Leslie Logan/Cleburne, TX, had 12 kills in the match. Brittany Helgeson/Virginia Beach, VA, helped out the FMU offense with 29 kills and Jessica Strader/Kettering, OH, led the defense with 18 digs.

 

The Cobras return to action on Saturday, September 24, when they travel to face CVAC opponent Belmont Abbey in Charlotte, NC. As for Francis Marion, their next match will be on Saturday as well, as they take on Peach Belt opponent Armstrong Atlantic on the road.
