Florence, SC- Day two of the Francis Marion Invitational had the same feel as day one for the Coker Cobras. The Cobras lost to West Georgia and Lenoir- Rhyne in college volleyball on Saturday August, 27.
In the first match against West Georgia the Cobras lost three straight games 30-18, 30-19 and 30-21. Leading the Cobras was senior Andrea Manuel/Lyman, SC with 7 kills and 7 digs, while sophomore Margaret Madison/Savannah, GA picked up 9 kills. Junior Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI had 16 assists and freshman Kelsey Carlson/Oswego, IL added six digs.
The second match brought some hope to the struggling Cobras with a win in the second game of the match 30-17, but in the end Lenoir-Rhyne proved to be too much for Coker winning the match 30-22, 30-21 and 30-24.
Again Coker was lead by senior Andrea Manuel/Lyman, SC who had 30 kills and 6 digs. Junior Tara Nelson/Rochester Hills, MI helped out with 39 assists, while sophomores Margaret Madison/ Savannah, GA and Megan Haupt/ Summerville, SC had 10 kills and 8 kills respectively. Freshman Kelsey Carlson/ Oswego, IL also added 16 digs to the Cobras efforts.
The Coker volleyball team takes to the court for their next match on Wednesday August, 31 at Lander University at 6:30 p.m.
