8 Cobras finish in the 1op ten of their events
Roanoke, VA: The Cobras finished their weekend meet at the Bast-Cregger invitational. 8 athletes finished in the top 10 of their events with one female athlete doing it twice.
Top Performers:
Xavier Ratliff: 60m Hurdles 4th place ( 8.78s)
Jeffery Stiles: 200m 4th place (22.3s)
Patience Lisbon: 400m 8th place (1:02:92) (PR)
Michael Wilson: High Jump 10th place (1.82m)
Dakota Jernigan: High Jump 5th place (1.54m) | Triple Jump 8th place (10.5m)
Massassi Maxwell-Smith: Long Jump 9th place (5.17m)
Lyniah Kitt: Triple Jump 5th place (10.73)
How it Happened
The weekend end got started with the men's 60-meter dash prelims. This race had three cobras qualify for the semi-finals. Jeffery Stiles, Donovan Jones, and Kamari Hudson all qualified for the semi-finals. Unfortunately, that is as far as the trio got as Stiles was disqualified for a false start, Kamari finished in 17th to not qualify just as Donovan Jones finished in 21st. Xavier Ratliff was the next Cobra to race on the day. Ratliff participated in the 60m Hurdles where he finished in 4th place overall with a final time of 8.78 seconds. Next, Jeffery Stiles finished 4th in the men's 200m dash with a final time of 22.3 seconds. Patience Lisbon had a wonderful outing, where she placed 8th in the 400m with a final time of 1:02.92. The last of the men's performers was Michael Wilson the Freshman. Wilson finished 10th in the High Jump with a final height of 1.82m or 5 foot 11.5 inches. Dakota Jernigan had a fantastic day in both the Women's High Jump and Triple Jump where she finished in 5th place and 8th place respectively. Lyniah Kitt also placed well in the Triple Jump as she just beat out Jernigan's distance (10.5m) with a final score of 10.73m. Then to round out the weekend Massassi Maxwell-Smith finished in 9th place in the Long Jump with a final distance of 5.17 meters.
What's Next?
The Cobras will travel to Winston-Salem, NC, on February 7th and 8th to compete at the Camel City Invitational at the JDL fast track.
