Day 1 Track and Field SAC Championships

Anderson, SC- Coker headed to the home of the Trojans for the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Track and Field Championships. The Cobras looked to take on day 1 as they looked to finish the season strong. 

Nya Exum led it off for the women as she advanced into the finals of the open 100 as she hit a time of 12.01.  Naizja Redding kept it cooking for the women as she qualified for the finals of the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.90. Arianna Williams ran a 15.40 taking 12th place. Mariah Mitchem qualified for the finals in the 200 clocking in a 24.65. Mitchem turned it right around and ran a 57.10 qualifying for finals.

On the men's side, Gary Simpkins reached the finals in the open 400 hitting a 48.57 over the one-lap race. Luke Baker competed in the decathlon for the Cobras as he ran a 12.59 in the 100 portions of the decathlon. Baker hit a 1:04.62 in the 400 finishing 10th. Luke jumped 1.56m in the high jump and 4.98m in the long jump. William Frazier finished 10th in the javelin throw with a distance of 45.29m. In the decathlon shot put event Baker threw 9.22m.
