Lazare and Weatherly Earn Medals at SAC Indoor Conference Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – At the SAC Indoor Conference Championships, the Coker University women's track and field team finished the indoor season on a strong note on Sunday (Mar. 1) by setting several personal records and improving on last year's totals.

Calene Lazare and Nyasia Weatherly got things started for the Cobras, finishing in second and third place with times of 7.67 and 7.72, respectively. In the 200m finals, Lazare and Weatherly also finished in second and third place, running times of 25.47 and 25.49. Katie Spence ran a 11:46.28 in the 3000m finals. As a team, the Cobras finished in eighth place while scoring eight more points than last year.

"We had a lot of great individual performances and we are happy to increase both team totals from a year ago," said coach Pete Early. "We will look to build off of the many personal bests and school records as we head into outdoor season."

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 20) when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Live results can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
