Cobra Corner
- Freshman Ilona Hernandez-Sanchez has started 2-0 in singles to begin her Coker career. She has yet to drop a set, taking a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Lander and a 6-2, 6-3 victory over North Greenville. She has been a staple at the second singles spot and will look to continue her success tomorrow.
- Senior Jade Bellegy, a Pre-Season All-SAC Second Team honoree, is also off to a hot start in singles. She is also 2-0 in straight-set victories against Lander and North Greenville, but doing so from the one spot.
- Caroline Myers is the other Cobra undefeated this season, battling for wins at the fifth and sixth singles spots. She has been a model of consistency at the end of the lineup and hopes to remain that way against the Patriots.
Last Time Out
- The Cobras handily took care of business against the Trailblazers of North Greenville this past weekend, recording a 6-1 victory on the road
- Bellegy and Emerson Banning partnered for the 6-1 win at first doubles, while Hernandez-Sanchez teamed up with Tamara Macias to get the 6-2 win at the second doubles slot to secure the doubles point
- Only needing three courts, the Cobras went out and took five for good measure. Each singles winner for the Cobras not only won but did so in straight sets. A slight bit of drama came in the first set on court four where Salomé Sierra headed to a set tiebreak, but the tiebreak itself was taken cleanly at 7-3 and the drama was put out just as fast as it arose.
Get over to Florence for some Saturday morning tennis before coming back to join us here in Hartsville for some baseball and softball action!
