Women's Tennis Dominates JCSU in Sunday Matchup

Charlotte, NC – Coker Women's Tennis dominated the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University, earning their fourth win in their first five contests to start the year off strong.

The Golden Bulls played down a player on the day, so the Cobras started off with the advantage up 1-0 with a forfeit win on court six. Since the Golden Bulls also couldn't field a third doubles pair, they only had to take one of the doubles courts to win the doubles point. Even though one win was needed, the ladies still grabbed dominant wins on both courts. The first doubles pair of Jade Bellegy and Emerson Banning grabbed the 6-1 win on court one, while the pairing of Angelina Krieg and Tamara Macias grabbed the 6-3 win on the second doubles court.

Onto singles up 2-0 on the day, the ladies only needed to take wins on two courts to claim the road win. However, your Cobras had one thing on their mind: dominance. Coker won on every court in straight sets. Bellegy double-bageled her opponent in a 6-0, 6-0 win on court one, Salomé Sierra won 6-1, 6-2 on court two, Banning won 6-3, 6-1 on court three, Sydnee Foster took the 6-0, 6-1 win on court four, and Olivia Drake sealed the 7-0 victory for the Cobras with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court five.

After playing three matches in three days, the Cobras will take a few days off and be back in action against the Trojans of Mount Olive on Saturday, February 24th. First serve for that one is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET.
