Coker Women Pull Out Gritty 4-3 Win Against Converse

Sumter, SC - Coker Women's Tennis earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory today against the Valkyries of Converse University.

Although the Cobras second doubles pairing dropped their contest, Coker was still able to win the doubles point. The first doubles pairing of Jade Bellegy and Emerson Banning got the 6-3 win on court one, while the third doubles pairing of Salomé Sierra and Caroline Myers got the 6-0 dominant win on court three to secure the point and went up 1-0.

Moving on to singles, Bellegy got the 7-6, 7-6 win on court one, while Banning got a 6-2, 6-2 win on court four. With the match tied 3-3, it came down to Myers on the sixth singles court. After dropping her opening set 3-6, she stormed back and took the remaining sets 6-3, 6-3 to take the dramatic win on the road.

The Cobras are right back in action tomorrow, February 18th, as they will face off against Johnson C. Smith up in Charlotte with a first serve of 1:00 PM ET.
