Women's Tennis Grabs 5-2 Win Over Augusta, Moves To 2-0

Augusta, GA - Women's tennis keeps rolling to start the 2024 season as they grab another victory, this time in the form of a 5-2 win over Augusta.

The Cobras set the tone early on, sweeping the doubles competition. Jade Bellegy and Emerson Banning dug out a 7-6 win at first doubles, Angelina Krieg and Tamara Macias dominated in a 6-2 win at second doubles, and the pairing of Salomé Sierra and Caroline Myers handled their business at third doubles with a 6-3 triumph.

The Cobras clinched the win on the singles courts, winning on courts one, two, four, and six. Bellegy, much like her battle at first doubles, found herself in a close match at first singles but came out on top with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 victory. Sierra took care of business in straight sets at second singles, winning 6-4, 6-4. Banning and Myers were the victors on courts four and six, winning 6-0, 7-6 and 6-2, 6-3, respectively.

The Cobras will look to continue their hot start a week from today as they return home to host Francis Marion. First serve for that match is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
