Cobras Split Decisions at Florence College Invite

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Coker University women's tennis team split their first two matches of the spring season Saturday (Feb. 5) at the Florence College Tennis Invitational. The Cobras defeated Bluefield State 4-3, before falling to Lander 5-0.

Coker was led by their freshmen against Bluefield State, as three of their four points came from first year members of the squad. Jessica Binzari picked up a victory at No. 1 singles against Shreya Chakraborty 6-3, 6-2 while Tamara Macias was also victorious at No. 2 singles by a 6-3, 6-1 margin over Virginia Zanotti. Michelle Schaub won her match at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Paula Saez-Raez and sophomore Khushi Agarwal clinched the victory for the Cobras with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Victoria Cabral at No. 6 singles. 

Coker will be back in action tomorrow (Feb. 6) as they complete play at the Florence College Tennis Invitational. Coverage can be found at www.cokercobras.com
